The Alcohol Drug Helpline is operated by Alcohol Drug Association New Zealand (ADANZ).
ADANZ is a harm-reduction agency providing an informed voice on addiction issues that affect the people of Aotearoa New Zealand.
ADANZ provides co-ordination and information dissemination services to the alcohol and other drug sector.
ADANZ also compiles the Addictions Services Treatment Directory.
Another arm to ADANZ services is the AOD Consumer Team: Consumer Advisors offer advice to alcohol and other drug treatment agencies and facilitate the South Island Regional Consumer Network. The Addiction Advocacy Service provides advocacy and peer support for service users in the Canterbury district.
The Alcohol Drug Helpline is funded by the Alcohol Advisory Council of New Zealand and the Ministry of Health.
All calls are kept confidential. The only exception is where someone’s life is in immediate danger. Your call may be monitored within the Helpline for supervision purposes. The Helpline adheres to the Code of Health and Disability Services Consumers' Rights.

All Helpline counsellors are given comprehensive initial and ongoing training by our service to help people with alcohol and other drug issues. In addition a number of our counsellors have completed or are completing external qualifications in counselling and the treatment of alcohol and other drug problems.
The helpline is staffed 7 days a week 10am - 10pm
